Great Racing at the 2016 Club Regatta

Great conditions, moderate temperatures, and clear, sunny skies welcomed sailors to the Lake Wheeler waterfront for the 2016 SailPack Club Regatta! With a full slate of 8 teams all registered by Sailing Club members, racing commenced on a W4 with breeze from the west at 10 mph with squirrelly gusts and the Lake Wheeler dead zone. Great starts and competitive finishes characterized each and every race of the day with very close battles for 2nd and 3rd, as well as 5th and 6th, and all around great camaraderie and sportsmanship. Congratulations to Wolfpack 1 a.k.a. The Graham Crackers, for the solid start and wire-to-wire win. They were joined on the podium by Wolfpack 8, a.k.a. The Hardy Boys, in 2nd, and Wolfpack 4, a.k.a. The B-yacht'ches, in 3rd. Although there were several entertaining capsizes throughout the day, the "First in the Water" Award goes to Wolfpack 6, a.k.a. Deez Knots' crew John Stay.

Thanks to the hearty and benevolent Race Committee including special guest appearance by SailPack afterguard and former commodore Dustin Simons for getting in 5 great races before darkness warshed over the dudes. Thanks to all of the Race Team members who hustled to put on a great event and make the racing experience available and accessible to our fellow Sailing Club members! Bravo to the Sailing Club members who tried their hand at racing - we'll see you on the race course again in the spring!
