NC State Returns to SCOR Offshore Event

CHARLESTON, S.C., OCTOBER 15-17, 2019 – NC State's Offshore Sailing Team will return to Charleston, South Carolina this February 15-17th for the 2019 Southern Collegiate Offshore Regatta (SCOR) hosted by the Charleston Ocean Racing Association and the Carolina Yacht Club. Finishing the third annual event in 2018 in 7th place, the Wolfpack is charged up to return to Charleston to improve on their past performance. This year's regatta will feature 13 college teams from all over the country including SAISA rivals College of Charleston, Univ. of South Florida, Miami, USC, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Vanderbilt, in addition to out of conference foes, as well.

“This year's SCOR is the first spring season opportunity for us to race other colleges," says NC State Offshore captain Cameron Gough (Jr., Warrington, UK). "We've been training extensively and are coming off of a strong fall season showing at both the Navy Small Keelboat Invitational, as well as the Larchmont (NY) Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta where we finished 2nd in our division."

"In our fourth year of having an offshore program, the sailors have really stepped up both their training and performance,” said NC State head coach Dana Magliola. “We're really excited to see what's in store for this talented roster of keelboat sailors.” 

The NC State team will sail the 1-Design-35 sailboat Warhorse in this weekend's regatta.
