Join us on Saturday, September 31 and Sunday, October 1st at Lake Crabtree County Park as NC State Sailing hosts the 2023 SailPack Intercollegiate Women's Regatta presented by the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance and the SailPack Foundation. The 6th annual event is one of only two major college sailing regattas hosted annually in Raleigh. This is a perfect event for families, friends, fans and the community to come out and enjoy high-caliber college sailing right here in the Triangle. The regatta will feature more than 60 college sailors from South-Atlantic Conference and Mid-Atlantic Conference teams including local rivals Duke University, University of North Carolina, and UNC-Wilmington, as well as Georgia Tech, Jacksonville University, University of Georgia, University of Miami, Eckerd College, American University, Embry-Riddle University and more.
This year’s regatta marks the second year that the event has been named a NC State University Parents and Families Weekend Signature Event and provides a free, easily accessible event for parents and families to enjoy during their time in Raleigh celebrating this fall weekend tradition. Additionally, the event is recognized as an Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) “Emerging Women’s Regatta” which spotlights events which are considered integral to the growth and development of women’s participation in collegiate sailing. Sustainability is an important priority for NC State Sailing and this year’s regatta will once again be a "Clean Regatta" featuring a host of sustainable and environmentally-conscious practices. Together with national sustainability leaders, Sailors for the Sea, NC State leads college sailing in sustainable events and maintains a strong commitment to protecting our environment. The event has also been certified as a Steward-level event by NC State University Sustainability.
The Opening Ceremony will be held at 9:30 AM at the Lake Crabtree County waterfront tower featuring family-friendly festivities, and giveaways. Racing will begin shortly after the opening ceremony. There will be outstanding on shore spectating from the Lake Crabtree waterfront and on Saturday, NC State Sailing will provide spectators with the opportunity to participate in on-the-water spectating cruises during the event.
