Join us at Lake Crabtree as NC State Sailing hosts the 2018 SailPack Women’s Intercollegiate Regatta presented by the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance on Saturday, September 29th. On Sunday, NC State hosts a high school and college women's sailing skills clinic.
This marks the third year that the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance has supported our event. This group of talented marketing and event professionals help bring sporting events to the Triangle, and promote our community as a world-class sporting destination. They're amazing so check them out!
The 4th annual SailPack Women’s Intercollegiate Regatta will feature more than 50 college sailors and coaches competing from ten Mid-Atlantic and South-Atlantic Conference teams including local rivals UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, as well as the University of South Florida, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Virginia Tech and others. This is a perfect event for families, friends, and the community to come out and see high-caliber college sailing right here in Raleigh.
The Opening Ceremony will be held at 9:30 AM at the Lake Crabtree County waterfront featuring family-friendly festivities, giveaways, FOOD, refreshments (including coffee!) and maybe even a visit from everyone’s favorite Ms. Wuf! Racing will begin shortly after the opening ceremony.
This year's event will also be a CLEAN REGATTA featuring a host of sustainable and environmentally-conscious practices. Together with national sustainability leaders, Sailors for the Sea, NC State leads college sailing in sustainable events and maintains a strong commitment to protecting our environment.
Opening Ceremony: 9:30AM
Launch & Racing Begins: 10:05AM
Racing Concludes: 3:30PM*
Awards Ceremony: 4:00PM*
We'll have copies of this year's special poster for giveaways, too! Here's a preview:
Designed by Winston-Salem based illustrator and designer (and sailor!) Emma Richardson,
this year's poster may be our most unique one yet.
In addition to great spectating and SailPack giveaways; NC State sailors will be on shore hosting sailing-related activities including a knot tying station! Come out, enjoy the beautiful outdoors, have food and refreshments while watching and learn about competitive college sailing and the student and volunteer-run sailing program at NC State.
On Sunday following the regatta, NC State will host a high-school and college women sailing skills clinic. This is the second year of the clinic and last year nearly 40 female sailors participated. Coached by a professional and experienced college sailing coach, the event features on and off the water training and instruction.
