ORIENTAL, NC (March 29-30, 2025): The 2025 Sailpack Oriental Intercollegiate Regatta is once again poised to bring collegiate sailing talent from across the country to the “Sailing Capital of North Carolina.” in what has become a celebrated fixture of the college sailing spring calendar. Hosted by NC State Sailing on March 29–30 in historic Oriental, the two-day event will feature teams from 20 colleges battling it out on the waters of the Neuse River.
The event begins on Saturday, March 29th at 9:45AM with an opening ceremony at Bow to Stern Boating Center and a warm welcome from Oriental Mayor Sally Belangia and other local dignitaries. Teams will launch from Bow to Stern and proceed to the race course in the harbor where races will begin around 10:30AM and continue through the late afternoon depending on conditions. Spectators can expect outstanding shoreside viewing from Lou Mac Park.
On Saturday night at Bow to Stern Boating Center, participants and supporters will be treated to authentic North Carolina hospitality with a traditional pig pickin’ and live music—showcasing the region’s coastal culture in addition to top-tier collegiate dinghy racing. In line with NC State Sailing’s commitment to environmental stewardship, the regatta is also certified as a Clean Regatta by Sailors for the Sea and recognized at the Steward level by NC State’s Sustainability Office. These designations highlight the event’s dedication to sustainable practices such as minimizing waste, reducing environmental impact, and promoting coastal conservation.
