SailPack Spring Sailing Clinics Offer NC State Students a Chance to Get on the Water
RALEIGH, NC — The Sailing Club at NC State is hosting a pair of Spring Sailing Clinics at Lake Crabtree County Park this April, offering NC State students an opportunity to learn how to sail, meet the Sailing Club, and spend an afternoon on the water.
Open to all students, the clinics are designed as a welcoming introduction to both sailing and the broader Sailing Club community. Whether you have never sailed before or are just looking for something new to try, the focus is on learning, having fun, and getting to know what being part of the Sailing Club is all about.
Participants will be on the water alongside current SailPack race team members, who will lead instruction and provide hands-on coaching throughout the afternoon. The sessions will cover the basics of sailing, including boat handling, teamwork, and an introduction to how racing works, all in a relaxed and supportive environment.
“These clinics are really about opening the door for people,” said Sailing Club Vice Commodore Anneliese Farner. “You don’t need any experience to show up. It’s a chance to learn something new, meet people, and see what the Sailing Club is like. There’s a place here for everyone, whether you want to sail competitively or just be part of the community.”
Beyond the time on the water, the clinics also serve as an entry point for students interested in getting involved with SailPack. The club offers a wide range of opportunities, from casual sailing, fun sailing-related trips and adventures, and social events to travel and competition, and the clinics provide a firsthand look at what that experience can be.
The clinics will take place on April 12 and April 19 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Lake Crabtree County Park. Participation is free, and no prior experience is required.
Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. Everything else will be provided. If you're interested, you can register here: https://forms.gle/ZhRtXZyqRFCxL6CV9
