Sailing Club Overview

The Sailing Club is NC State's oldest club organization, founded in 1954. The Sailing Club's mission is to foster the love of sailing to all students at NC State and to grow the sailing community on campus. The Sailing Club also hosts social events on dry land, too!

Weather you know how to sail or want to learn, the club offers a welcoming, safe, and fun environment to brush up on your sailing skills or to learn new ones. Learn to Sail and Club activities are open to full-time NC State students both undergrad and graduate. The Sailing Club sails at the historic Lake Crabtree County Park, about a 15 minute drive from campus. One of the most popular activities of the Sailing Club is our weekly cruise known as the "Friday Flotilla" every Friday afternoon during the sailing season.

The Sailing Club also organizes and hosts social gatherings, sailing adventures and trips to larger lakes and the North Carolina coast. Getting involved with the Sailing Club is also the first step in getting involved in intercollegiate sailing competition through the Race Team.
